What Is CBD?

September 02, 2019

The short answer
CBD stands for Cannabidiol, which is a natural molecule produced by cannabis. Unlike some other molecules produced by cannabis like THC, CBD does not have a psychoactive component, and consuming it will not get you "high". The molecule instead can help consumers feel calm and relaxed.

Where does it come from?
CBD comes from hemp; one of the oldest crops grown in North America. The hemp plant has a long and complicated history in the United States, and many people are unaware of the wide variety of uses that hemp has. Hemp can be used for producing textiles, paper, compost, rope, insulation, and many other things. In addition to these practical uses, hemp also produces seeds that can be used in flour, body care products, cooking oil, and a variety of other things.

Industrial hemp is not marijuana. Hemp and marijuana are related as both are species of cannabis, but these species are very different both by definition and effects.

Hemp contains much higher levels of CBD with very low levels of THC, as opposed to marijuana which contains lower levels of CBD and higher levels of THC. We specialize in growing industrial hemp, which is excellent for producing high levels of CBD and a variety of other useful byproducts, all while containing very low, negligible levels of THC. The growth of hemp is completely legal, unlike the growth of marijuana, which is illegal at a federal level

What are the effects of CBD?
CBD is most commonly used to produce feelings of relaxation in most users. Many people also use it as a natural pain reliever or to help reduce inflammation. CBD can also be used to treat many disorders such as epilepsy, arthritis, schizophrenia, and even cancer. Most users take CBD to help reduce anxiety, or to help achieve a peaceful, calm mood while remaining completely sober. There are even CBD products for animals, such as CBD - infused treats developed to help calm and relax pets.

Our products are made exclusively with organically grown hemp, and farmers who support the mission for agricultural integrity. The CBD extracted in our facilities is tested on-site in our state-of- the-art labs, and, for extra security, audited by third parties to ensure it is of the highest grade possible.

Is it legal?
Yes, it's legal to purchase CBD. All of our products are made with industrial hemp using cGMP compliant protocols with both the FDA and DEA registration.

We work regularly with state legislators, the USDA, the FDA, and other agencies that regulate the industry to ensure that our product is consistently legal and safe. Not only do we abide by state and federal laws, but we also are active in the legislation process. We played a large role in assisting the Georgia State Legislature in writing its industrial hemp legislation, HB 213-The Georgia Hemp Farming Act.
